How I turned Beckham into Twinkle Toes; Alexia's diamante trainers

THEY are the latest must-have fashion item ever since David Beckham chose to put them on his two very expensive feet.

The glitzy silver trainers he wore on Posh's 27th birthday last week led to just about every follower of fashion trying to find out where they could get a pair. And last night young fashion designer Alexia Parmigiani admitted she was "over the moon" as she said: "I'm the girl who put the glitter on Becks's shoes."

Alexia, 25, revealed that she has already customised 10 pairs of the Adidas trainers for the Manchester United and England star with her unique diamante and glitter designs.

Beckham, 25, was told about Alexia's talents by Adidas after she customised a pair of pounds 55 Adidas Superstar trainers for garage music star Lonyo.

Alexia said: "Lonyo went to New York and when he got back he told me how everyone was stopping him and asking him where he'd got his trainers. Then I was asked if I would customise a pair for David Beckham. I did a pair specially for him and he was really pleased. I must have customised about 10 different pairs for him now. I've also done a pair for Victoria. But I haven't done any for Brooklyn yet."

Alexia, who lives with her parents in Wandsworth, South-West London, started producing her glitter trainers last year after finishing a textiles degree.

She said: "Last season I did them with diamante and this season I'm doing them with silver glitter on the Adidas stripes. I charge pounds 95 a pair."
