Vinnie IyerPLAY ACTION
In some situations, a team can have too many goods for your own good. A look at three stars who are losing some stage presence to supporting cast members and three who must carry the show.
Variety acts
Shaun Alexander, RB, Seahawks. Matt Hasselbeck is clicking with receivers Koren Robinson and Darrell Jackson, the defense is showing big-play potential, and the team is comfortable with backup back Maurice Morris.
Randy Moss, WR, Vikings. He'll have some big days (see Week 4), but the team also has a deep running game and nice secondary receivers in Kelly Campbell, Nate Burleson and D'Wayne Bates.
Jeremy Shockey, TE, Giants. He should lead all tight ends in yardage but expect Tiki Barber, Amani Toomer and Ike Hilliard to continue taking away his red zone touches.
Starring roles
LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers. He must get his touches if the Chargers want to win. His receiving skills are underrated.
Laveranues Coles, WR, Redskins. He's finding room because the Redskins have a decent ground game and Rod Gardner is drawing attention downfield.
Chad Johnson, WR, Bengals. It seems as if every time Jon Kitna drops back, he zones in on Johnson. Johnson will finish with better all-around fantasy numbers than Corey Dillon.

ROB HURTT ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
Does Jerry Porter (hernia surgery) have enough second half potential to warrant retaining?
Matt Dana, Rochester, N.Y.
Matt: Porter recently told reporters he expects to be back for Week 9. In fact, he said he'll be fine well before the six-to eight-week timetable that doctors gave him, but don't count on him returning early. Most Porter owners will find it worthwhile to keep him until he returns. He has the ability to be a No. 2 or 3 fantasy starter for the second half of the season, and that's better than anything currently available in the free-agent pool. The only owners who should consider dumping Porter are ones with a shallow bench. In those cases, it's tough to justify holding on to someone who won't contribute until November.
TSN Games Tip of the week
With the season one-quarter complete for most clubs, it's time to cut the dead weight from your Draft & Trade Football team. You now have a better idea of trends and should alter your roster accordingly. For example, it doesn't appear the Rams' offense is going to be the juggernaut we expected, so it might be time to out quarterback Kurt Warner and look for the latest peach on the free-agent wire. You're better oft using valuable bench space on fill-in players who might have favorable weeks, such as Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter in Week 5 against the Cardinals, rather than on former studs who are injured or have been benched.--David Chalfin
