John Hunter's column: Paisley's rants bordering on the ridiculous
John HunterDOESN'T Ian Paisley feel a trifle sheepish about his outbursts on the Republic's first case of foot-and-mouth last Thursday?
Instead of expressing sympathy, as might have been expected from the chair of the Agriculture Committee, he insisted it wasn't the first, claiming there had been a cover-up.
Now he's demand-ing that the Army seal off the Border. Since they couldn't do that for 30 years, it's unlikely they'd succeed now.
Even more startling is his reported comment that NI shouldn't be tied in with the republic, allowing meat exports to continue.
Out-dated border-politicking won't answer the current crisis.
