John Hunter's Column: Order druggie guards to walk
John HunterPROBABLY just as well our own Dr John Reid is no longer Armed Forces minister.
Think of the problems he might face in attempting to deal with the Welsh Guardsmen who have been found to have been high as kites on illegal substances.
The Army line is that the leaky soldiers will be drummed out of the regiment for the serious offences of smoking dope, taking E-tabs and accepting amphetamines.
Pity they weren't serving in the Scots Guards, like the two soldiers convicted of murdering Belfast teenager Peter Mc Bride, who were taken back into the regiment.
At the time, Dr Reid refused to meet the concerned McBride family.
