RearView Mirror: Toyota remains the top brand

The SIMI has released figures for car sales in January. Toyota remains the top brand in Ireland with 5,500 cars sold, but it was very close with Ford selling 5,407 sales.

Volkswagen was third with 4,145 while Nissan were fourth with 3,806. Opel rounds off the top five with 3,164 sales.

All reported growth over January 2005, Volkswagen's sales for January 2006 were up nearly 5per cent while the total market was up 12.4 percent.
