THE RAC is warning people planning a night on the tiles this holiday season to take care on the roads. Of particular concern is the plight of pedestrians under the influence of either drink or drugs.

According to Ailbhe Sharp, Manager of the RAC School of Motoring: "Most of us are well aware of the problems of drink driving but little is said about the perils of drunk pedestrians.

"It is worrying to see the rising numbers of young pedestrians killed after drinking. Heavy intoxication must be a contributory factor in pedestrian accidents."
