Council staff learn to go up the ladder
CHARLES WHITECOUNCIL chiefs have spent pounds 4,700...teaching their staff the right way to climb ladders.
The 94 town hall workers spent a full day trying to master the task as part of a health and safety initiative.
Trainees were taught the finer points of how to pick a safe place to position ladders, how to go up and down and how to use roof ladders properly.
A spokesman for Labour-run Doncaster Council said: "We have a duty to ensure that our employees are safe and competent in working at heights."
Opposition Councillor Martin Williams said: "This makes the council a complete laughing stock."
