US automakers are reporting disappointing 2005 sales on the domestic front.

Both Ford and Daimler-Chrysler recorded declining sales while GM is also expected to report a decline for 2005, although it says it has reversed sliding sales.

Despite strong domestic model ranges American customers are still defecting to Japanese makes, especially Toyota.
