The Bravery: the Bravery
Jason GordonTHE BRAVERY
The Bravery (Island)
After hair metal reached its zenith, a plethora of mediocre bands, like Trixter, followed the formula to momentary fame and fortune. They were young, photogenic, and capable of writing memorable hooks. The Bravery, led by Sam Endicott, who previously played in a ska band called Skabba the Hut, are the new Trixter. "An Honest Mistake" and "The Ring Song" are decent singles, but all too familiar---when a rift or chorus doesn't recall the Cure or Duran Duran, it's reminiscent of today's biggest dance-rock players. Whether they're gutsy or just gunning for glory, the Bravery are hardly courageous. Jason Gordon
