ROMANCE PAIR'S pounds 2m LOTTO LOVE
SIMON BAKERA COUPLE yesterday spoke of their shock at returning from a romantic 32nd wedding anniversary meal to find they had scooped a pounds 2.3million Lotto jackpot.
Geraldine and Bryan Coghlin, both 56, from Littlehampton, West Sussex, were so stunned their six numbers had come up on Wednesday's double-rollover draw that they had to ask a relative to double check the ticket.
Chemical plant worker Mr Coghlin - who had received a pounds 25 gift voucher from his firm for Christmas on Wednesday morning - said four people had recently been made redundant, and he feared he could have been next.
"To lose your job before Christmas is devastating and that has happened to me before. Hopefully, one of them can now have my job," he said.
The pair's children Stephen, 29, who is away with the army on a training exercise and Laura, 26, heard over the phone that that their parents' regular numbers of 8, 14, 21, 26, 37 and 48 had won them pounds 2,329,779.
The couple, who are already planning a holiday in Hawaii in the New Year, admitted that they may have to "upgrade" the Christmas presents they had already bought weeks ago.
