I was filled with joy when I read the article "The Sound of Silence" in your April 2 issue. The amount of courage it takes for teenagers to come out in high school is amazing. And the amount of strength shown by the people who plan to participate in this event blows me away. It fills my heart with happiness to see youth doing something to change what goes on in our schools. I waited all through high school for something like this, something so powerful that it would make a difference. I want to congratulate everyone mentioned in this article for their courage and fearlessness--especially Jared Phillips, who is the most amazing 16-year-old. I am so proud to see what he has done and what he and every one else will do. This day goes down in our history books.
