Lightening the gay news
Angie J. HanMove over, Jon Stewart: Jeremy Hooper says he has the gay answer to all the hellfire and damnation coming from antigay conservatives via the news, and it's helping gay youths.
Hooper, 25, is the founder of GoodAsYou.org, a new Web site that presents gay news with humorous commentary. 'The antigays will next attempt to have the term homophobia legally redefined as 'protection of our right to undermine things that we don't understand or secretly are,'" reads a Good as You story about an antigay ballot initiative in California.
The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the site has come mostly from young adults, says Hooper. 'They've had a really rough time, they had given up hope, [and now] they're able to see that these people don't have to get to us," Hooper says. "We try to make things that are really depressing a little easier to swallow."
