IT'S no use blaming South Lanarkshire council chiefs for being killjoys because they erred on on the side of caution when they insisted on only one candle on kids' birth-day cakes, regardless of their age.

The blame for many such crazy decisions we see now lies with the "compensation claim" culture that's sweeping the country. It doesn't take much imagination to see how some folk make a tidy living through "orchestrated" injuries.
