IT'S wonderful to see that Jason McAteer is at last beginning to realise his potential as reported in last week's Sunday Mirror.

Eight years ago Jason broke into the Irish soccer team, confirming his arrival with an electrifying performance against Italy in the World Cup.

Shortly after that Liverpool broke the bank to bring him to Anfield, but things didn't work out. Two weeks ago, however, he turned back the clock in the World Cup qualifier against Holland, creating one goal and scoring a fabulous second goal.

Let's hope his form continues, especially against such formidable opponents as Portugal in next month's World Cup match in Lisbon.
