HUTCHINSON --- Anxious exhibitors, parents, grandparents, and curiosity-seekers can access 4-H results at the Kansas State Fair from the comfort of their home, office, school, public library or wherever access to the Internet is available.
"Posting the results on the Internet is not an easy task --- 6,000 4-H members from the state are expected to enter more than 13,000 exhibits at the Kansas State Fair this year," said Lindy Lindquist, an associate Extension specialist with K-State Research and Extension's 4-H and Youth programs. Lindquist manages the 4-H building at the north end of the fairgrounds where a majority of the exhibits will be displayed.
To be eligible to exhibit at the Kansas State Fair, each 4-H'er must first earn a purple or "state fair" blue ribbon in their division at their county fair. With the exception of the arts and crafts exhibits, which encourage creativity rather than meeting an established standard, all of the 4-H entries at the state fair will be judged. Champion and reserve championships are, however, awarded only in the fashion revue and livestock events, Lindquistsaid.
To check 4-H results from the Kansas State Fair, access the K- State Research and Extension Web site, http://www.oznet.ksu.edu, and click on Kansas State Fair results. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
