DEIRDRE and I are big fans of Corrs Corner House. We have often been for a spot of lunch or a bite to eat during the week, but we had never managed to sample their weekend menu.

One of the first things you notice about Corrs Corner is the availability of car parking spaces.

Inside, we were given a warm welcome by the friendly staff, all very neatly dressed and very efficient without being overbearing.

There is no dress code, but most diners stuck to casual but neat dress and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. When we perused the menu, we could see why.

There is an excellent A La Carte menu but we opted for the set price menu - five courses for pounds 18 per person.

For starters neither of us could resist the Thai Beef Salad - fillet steak in a beautiful tangy sauce served on a bed of lettuce and crisp salad vegetables.

We were then given the choice of freshly blended soup of the night or citrus fruit sorbet. We both chose the latter to whet our appetites.

The main course selection was a feast to the eyes .

In the end Deirdre plumped for the Breast of Barbary Duckling with a pink peppercorn, brandy and cider sauce.

She was more than satisfied with her choice. The duckling was cooked to perfection and she said the blend of flavours in the sauce set it off perfectly.

I chose the Medallions of Fillet Steak, served with a cheese sauce. I can only describe it as beautiful and the steak was tender and delicious.

To compliment our choices we ordered a lovely bottle of Chilean Red Wine (pounds 16.50).

Both meals were served with a selection of vegetables and potatoes and the portions we were offered were more than adequate.

The list of delicious desserts on offer was also endless. I chose the light Fresh Fruit Salad and Cream while Deirdre buried herself in the luxurious Raspberry and Chocolate Torte. We rounded off a perfect meal with some coffee.

Everything about Corrs Corner would entice us back to visit the restaurant again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, attending to our every need in a pleasant and efficient manner.

They were able to point us in the right direction as far as the dishes went and were also very knowledgeable about the wine list which was extensive.

The food served was of superb quality and great value for money and the service was the same.
