"Real Affordable Peru," from Overseas Adventure Travel (Cambridge, MA), was an outstanding trip taken in November '00. The total cost for two from Reno, Nevada, was $6,828, including a 5-day pre-trip to Bolivia (this pre-trip is no longer offered).

This is the finest tour company we've traveled with, in part because the group size was limited to no more than 16. Our guide was Washington Farfan from cuzco an exceptional person -- very bright and well educated, capable, well organized, and knowledgeable about his culture and country as well as ours, with wonderful people skills.

It is well worth adjusting to the altitude to enjoy the beauty of the Andes, the gracious people with their rich history and fascinating culture, and the good food.

The itinerary was briskly paced but not rushed, affording a wide variety of experiences, including rafting on the Urubamba River, visiting a private home for lunch, and seeing a traditional Inca healing ceremony.
