Hampton blossoms in the sun
JULIA TAYLORCROWDS have flocked to the Hampton Court Flower Show this week, making the most of the glorious weather.
Taking a break from filming at the show, Rachel de Thame - a former ballerina who joined BBC Gardeners' World as a presenter last year - offered some tips for keeping a garden looking its best in the heat.
Mrs de Thame said: "Water containers twice a day, preferably in the evening.
During the day water is lost through evaporation.
"Give borders a good soak every few days, this encourages the plants to grow good, strong roots. Find ways to conserve water by using draught-resistant varieties of plants."
There are still tickets available for the Flower Show which runs until Sunday.
Tickets can bought on the door, or booked in advance on 0870 906 3791, or on the RHS website at www.rhs.org.uk.
