FOOTBALL: MEG-A BITE

IAN CHAMBERS

FOREST boss Gary Megson tore into his players after goals from Danny Schofield and Andy Booth sent them crashing to defeat.

Huddersfield, who now only trail leaders Swansea on goal difference, were two goals to the good when Jack Lester reduced the deficit early in the second half.

However, Ian Breckin was dismissed for a professional foul, and Lester was shown the red card for a second bookable offence 12 minutes from time.

Megson later demanded that his players get used to being the team everyone wants to beat in this division.

"We were shocking in the first half and it has got to stop," Megson said.

"It is getting to the point where we need more self motivation when we play away.

"What the players have to realise is that because of what this club has done in the past, we are the biggest club in this League.

"We are everybody's biggest gate and they are always up for it when they play us. So we have to be more professional away from home."

Megson admitted referee Mike Dean's decisions to send off Breckin and Lester had little bearing on the score.

"When you are 2-0 down in the first half, having not turned up at all, it is very difficult to blame the referee," he added.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 21st minute thanks to Schofield's fierce strike - and Forest soon found themselves two goals behind courtesy of veteran striker Booth.

Huddersfield could have killed the game as a contest before the half-hour mark, but Gary Taylor-Fletcher's effort struck a post.

Forest pulled a goal back within a minute of the restart, with substitute Lester drilling the ball home from 18 yards.

But their cause was not helped by Breckin's dismissal for hauling Taylor-Fletcher to the ground when the Huddersfield striker was clean through, and they faced an uphill battle after Lester was given his marching orders for a second yellow card, having escaped what looked a certain red for a lunge on Town keeper Paul Rachubka just before the break.

Huddersfield boss Peter Jackson said: "Forest are a good side who will be there or thereabouts come May.

"But they never really threatened us, such were the outstanding performances from my players - and I think there is more to come from my side.

"I thought Breckin deserved to go for pulling down Taylor- Fletcher when he was last defender. I felt Lester was lucky to be on the pitch anyway after what he did to Rachubka."
