Football: Macari praises fans as Terriers bite back; HUDDERSFIELD 3
DANIEL PRICETOWN boss Lou Macari paid tribute to the loyal fans who stuck with his side to help earn them their first home win of the season.
Macari was also pleased his side came back from the cruel blow of a Crewe wonder-strike just before half-time, when Huddersfield had been dominating the game.
Macari said: "It was a lucky goal that got us back into the game, but credit to the crowd for staying with us.
"They knew we didn't deserve to be behind at half-time, but Crewe's was a superb goal."
Town fell behind on 43 minutes when Chris Lumsden flicked the ball to Colin Cramb, whose volley curled in beautifully from 25 yards.
But Town were back level a minute after the restart when Simon Baldry appeared to miscue a shot off his left foot, which looped over Jason Kearton into the net.
They took a deserved lead when Baldry turned provider, crossing for Martin Smith to head home on 62 minutes.
Five minutes later the crowd were singing the theme tune to 'The Great Escape' after Kevin Gallen had re-directed Kenny Irons' shot into the net.STAR MAN: Simon Baldry.
