HEALTH ALERT FEAR OVER DEAD DOLPHIN
DAVE ROBERTSA DOLPHIN washed up on a Welsh beach has been found to contain one of the highest levels of poisonous toxins in the world.
The dead mammal was discovered at Cardigan Bay, West Wales, sparking fears for the survival of other local marine life.
Tests carried out by the World Wildlife Fund also revealed many of the toxins found inside the dolphin calf can cause reproduction problems in humans and mammals.
WWF spokeswoman for Sally Bailey, said: "We need to do something before the situation gets any worse."
Now the environmental group is calling for protection status for an area off the Pembrokeshire coast.
She added: "Pollution can come from so many sources these days - rivers, run-off from the land and dumping at sea."
Also under threat are local porpoises which experts fear could soon be extinct unless Britain's seas are cleaned up.
