Toddlers given tents to hide from the midday sun
EMMA-LOUISE JOHNSONA SCHOOL has been given financial backing to buy tents for toddlers to shelter in when the sun comes out.
The Imperial Cancer Research Fund is backing a campaign to teach three- and four-year-olds at St John's Infants School in Failsworth, Oldham, to stay out of the midday sun when its cancer-causing ultra- violet rays are at their strongest.
Now schools nationwide are being urged to follows St John's lead.
The Cancer Research Fund's Dr Charlotte Proby said: "This is a great idea. The children can enjoy the sun and still stay safe."
