I'm Havana honeymoon - Sheridan
PAUL HUNTERSCOTTISH Socialist Party leader Tommy Sheridan married fiancee Gail Healy yesterday - then said he hopes to meet Fidel Castro on honeymoon.
The 36-year-old former anti-poll tax rebel married Ms Healy in a Roman Catholic ceremony in front of more than 200 guests at Our Lady of Lourdes' Church, in Glasgow.
And afterwards, he said he hoped to meet Cuban leader Castro while on honeymoon in the Caribbean socialist republic.
"We're in negotiations with the Cuban ambassador, but I very much hope that we can meet him," he said.
Mr Sheridan wore a red MacLean tartan kilt in tribute to legendary Scottish Socialist leader John MacLean. His bride, also 36, wore a traditional white wedding dress.
As she entered the church, Gail told the crowd of well-wishers outside: "Everybody come in. There's room for you all."
The bride, who is a British Airways air hostess, became pen friends with Mr Sheridan in 1992 while he was serving a six-month term in Barlinnie prison after a poll tax protest.
