THERE is a massive underage drinking problem in Ireland so the relaxed way Minister McDaid dealt with his son's drinking is very worrying.

McDaid is in an influential man and his attitude towards his son's drinking is sending out a message to youngsters saying it is okay to drink alcohol when you are under the legal age.

As a father and a politician he should have taken a stronger stance and provide a more positive role model.
