Football: Moyes: I can't go on spree
DOMINIC KINGDAVID Moyes insists he will be quite happy to start the season without any new recruits as Everton set their sights on a UEFA Cup place.
The Everton manager has made no secret of his desire to sign Fulham's England Under-21 midfielder Sean Davis, but knows he is likely to face fierce competition from some of the Premiership's big spenders.
Moyes, whose side kick off the new campaign with a trip to Arsenal, said: "We don't have a lot of money here and what we do have, we try to spend wisely.
The ambitious squad turned Everton from relegation battlers to Champions League contenders last season despite bringing in just one player, Marseille's Joseph Yobo.
A dismal end-of-season slump wrecked Everton's Champions League hopes and allowed Blackburn to nick the final UEFA Cup place.
Moyes said: "It hurt me terribly missing out that way, but now we have to go and get ourselves into the top half of the table again and be really positive about it."
