More than 100 Desert Storm squadron members enjoyed the First Annual MCAS Miramar Air Show, featuring the Blue Angels, in August. They viewed events from the ANA Chalet, jointly shared with the San Diego Squadron of ANA. The Marines got the chalet's lettering wrong: "Semper Fi Chalet." - but we'll get that squared away for next year.

The Palm Springs, California squadron worked hard to prepare the Second Annual Veterans Day Parade, November 11, which is associated with the ANA/Active Duty Day of Fun and Golf on November 10.

Desert Storm member and Palm Springs Mayor, Will Kleindienst, and ANA Regional VP, CAPT John Duncan, had the honor of flying to the arriving USS John C. Stennis at the invitation of VADM Mike Bowman, Commander Naval Air Force Pacific, to welcome CVN-74 to its new home port of San Diego, and to officially offer Desert Storm 's Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ) Holiday in Palm Springs Program to Stennis CO, CAPT Douglas Roulstone.

The squadron now underwrites three-day, two-night, all-expense paid vacations for four SOQs and one USMC NCO of the Quarter, every quarter of the year. These wonderful vacations for the "Best of the Best" of our active duty personnel and their families is made possible through the contributions of hotels, restaurants, department stores, banks and entertainment activities of the Greater Palm Springs area.
