VA prescription plan clarified - Service - Brief Article
Tim DyhouseSome 200,000 veterans who have been waiting to see a VA physician for the first time may be able to receive medications from VA mail-out pharmacies that were prescribed by private doctors. To be eligible, veterans must have:
* enrolled in VA's health care system on or before July 25, 2003;
* requested their first primary care appointment with VA before July 25, 2003; and
* been waiting more than 30 days for their first appointment with a primary care physician by Sept. 22, 2003.
VA began filling the prescriptions on Sept. 22. The policy is a short-term measure to assist veterans who were enrolled and waiting for their appointments before July 25. It will not apply to veterans who were put on the waking list after July 24.
