Wedding day grief of bride
JOHN SMITHA BRIDE-TO-BE was being comforted on what should have been her wedding day yesterday after a hit-and-run road smash claimed the life of her fiance.
Serviceman Kristoffer Tott, 22, died on Thursday eight days after his car was crushed between two lorries on the A14 near the couple's home in Newmarket, Suffolk.
One lorry raced off - but police tracked down the driver, a 51- year-old Dutchman. He was due in court yesterday charged with careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
Victim Kristoffer and American Blair Anderson, also 22, were supposed to wed yesterday in Saltburn, Cleveland.
Many relatives and friends had planned to fly over from the USA for the big day.
Blair will now return home to America. She said: "We had planned to spend our lives together in England - but now I just want to leave."
