Highlights - 1991-1992 forecasts of world supply, use and trade of wheat, coarse grains and rice
HIGHLIGHTS
Following are highlights of this month's updated forecasts of world supply, use, and trade for wheat, coarse grains, and rice. Changes in 1990/91 are the result of updated trade data.
FORECASTS FOR 1991/92
Imports
Pakistan's wheat imports are forecast 400,000 tons higher due to the pace of sales and commitments to date from the United States, Australia, and Canada. Despite a smaller expected corn crop and strengthening demand from the domestic hog and poultry industries, the forecast for Philippine corn imports was reduced 150,000 tons as feed manufacturers shift from importing to utilization of domestic stocks. Indonesia's rice imports for calendar year (CY) 1992 are forecast 50,000 tons higher due to shipping delays which thrust some deliveries into 1992 which were previously expected to arrive in 1991. Mexico's CY 1992 rice imports were forecast 50,000 tons lower in anticipation that current price levels will deter some purchases.
Exports
The forecast for U.S. wheat exports was increased 1 million tons reflecting sales to date.
