TWO Mayo men more renowned for their links with Galway will look to prove that west really is best today.

Former Galway boss John O'Mahony and his successor Peter Ford take Connacht up against Brian McEniff's Ulster.

The pair have been buoyed by the withdrawals that decimated Ulster.

Injuries, holidays and club commitments mean the likes of Owen Mulligan, Stevie McDonnell and Benny Coulter, all scorers in last year's final, are out.

Ulster are the reigning champions and showed true grit to win last year's decider in Enniskillen.

With light fading fast after extra-time Tom Brewster proved their hero with two last gasp scores.

They'll be hoping for a similar outcome today but Connacht are backboned by the Mayo team that made it to this year's |All-Ireland final.
