I'VE lived in Nottingham now for 10 years and in St Ann's for about 18 months, and the shooting of 14-year-old Danielle Beccan was sadly not a shock to me.

I was on the bus with my mother, who had come for the weekend, when we passed the site where the girl had been killed. She asked what I thought had happened there and I replied, "Someone has probably been shot".

It is a sad reflection on our times.
