BEARING in mind the salaries and expenses that are available to MPs, you'd think they'd be more than satisfied with their incomes.

It's a shock to discover they have a sideline allowing them to charge for social speeches.

I know many people who would be delighted to make a speech if they simply got a nice meal, a drink and a few hours in a pleasant environment.
