Man hurt in mountain fall
MICHAEL DOYLEA MAN has been treated in hospital after being rescued on the Mourne Mountains yesterday.
It is understood the climber, who is suffering from head and pelvic injuries, had fallen while climbing Slieve Binion in Co Down.
Two members of the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team were also climbing nearby and were able to treat the injured man at the scene.
Ed Kilgore from the team said the man was lucky the alarm was raised so quickly: "We decided to go to the accident scene in our own fast response vehicle.
"Dave Goddard was the rescue officer at the scene and if it wasn't for his response, the person would have been in a very bad state."
An RAF helicopter airlifted the man to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.
