Real Life: 'Jordan thinks it's scary how much I look like her'

Elizabeth Stephenson

'Three years ago me and a couple of friends went to Ascot, and we hired a limousine for a laugh. When we rolled up and I got out of the car the paparazzi started snapping away. I'd never been to Ascot before so I assumed this was the norm, until I realised no one else was having their photos taken. When someone in the crowd shouted "Give us a smile Jordan" my friend said, "Alison, they think you're Jordan!" and I replied, "Who?" I'd never even heard of her.

We had a good giggle then I forgot all about it. It wasn't until a year later that I got a call from an agency asking if I was interested in working as a Jordan double. They'd heard about what happened at Ascot and got my contact details. At first I wasn't interested, but the agency kept calling, so I agreed to do a job and see how it went.

At the time, I was a full-time mother and housewife so when I did my first job - a photo shoot for a national paper - I was incredibly nervous, especially as I had to wear a bikini. But it was really exciting for me, an escape from the routine of housework. My second job was opening a night club in Greece. I got an all expenses-paid holiday, it was fabulous. When I got home I signed up with the agency and I've had hundreds of jobs since - and I do all sorts of assignments. Like Jordan, my boobs aren't real. I've had implants to take me from a 36B to a 36E, but I've never done a topless photo shoot because I wouldn't feel comfortable. I have done lots of bikini and underwear shoots though.

Last year I was in Tenerife and I bumped into Jordan's ex, Dane Bowers. He was with his girlfriend, and the look on his face when he saw me was priceless. He thought for a second I was the real Jordan out to cause some trouble.

Since I started doing this, I suppose my life has got quite like Jordan's. I open night clubs, go on photo shoots for magazines and newspapers, go on telly. I've got really into the London club scene. I feel like I'm reliving my youth. I get a real buzz from it all. I mean I'm 38 years old and if people think I can pass for a 25-year- old glamour model, that's great.

The press often mistake me for the real thing, as do members of the public. Sometimes it's a good thing. I've been to restaurants and waiters have come to the table with bottles of champagne saying a gentleman has sent this over for Katie Price. At first I'd send it back and say I wasn't her. But now I just smile and down it!

Most people are really nice to me, but there have been occasions when I've been walking down the street and strangers have shouted abuse like "You slag", or "Whore". I spend thousands a year keeping up with Jordan, but I do earn a lot, usually between pounds 400 and pounds 800 an hour. I buy all the celeb magazines and the newspapers to see what she is wearing. I have a personal dressmaker who I get to make the outfits if I can't get hold of them, or I pop into Harvey Nichols to get the genuine articles. She wears a lot of Wheels & Doll Baby, an Australian label, and a little vest costs at least pounds 150. Recently I bought a black dress with blue and white gingham frills that Jordan had been snapped in, it set me back pounds 375. I'd never have spent that much on clothes before this.

I spend about pounds 1,000 a month on manicures, pedicures, facials, tanning booths and getting my hair done, but if Jordan goes for a drastic image change I have to follow suit. When she had her hair braided to go into the jungle, I had to fork out pounds 500 to have mine done.

I think her and Peter Andre are a good match. I've been doing a lot of work recently with a Peter Andre lookalike and he is gorgeous.

I met Jordan last year at a premiere and she thinks it's scary how much we look like each other. I've done TV and promotional work and whenever a newspaper needs a Jordan double they call me. I was on The Lenny Henry Show and They Think It's All Over and I've done loads for Sky TV. I just finished filming a spoof documentary with a Posh lookalike for the BBC, and I've met loads of famous people - Beyonce, Vernon Kay, June Sarpong, Jade Goody. My three boys Kurt, 14, Oliver, 8, and Denim, 4, think it's cool. Whenever I meet anyone famous I get their autographs for my kids. My eldest daughter Chloe, 17, took a while to accept it. She found it embarrassing, but then she saw how much I enjoy it and eventually came round. My husband thinks it's hilarious. He's supportive and doesn't get jealous. Even when we are out together I get young guys coming up to me trying to get my number. It is flattering, but that's not what I'm in it for.

My friends ask me if I'll keep going once I hit 40. If I still look this good, of course I will. I'm having the time of my life!'
