Lift Up Your Hands: Raise Your Praise and Get Lost in God
Kevin Wayne JohnsonLift Up Your Hands: Raise Your Praise and Get Lost in God by Gloria P. Pruett Walk Worthy Press/Warner Books November 2005 $21.95, ISBN 0-446-57823-1
To allow oneself to experience praise represents more than an act--it's a lifestyle. Pruett helps her readers to navigate this journey from the outset. "Praise is like prayer--it's a way of life, and, once you start it, you'll love it," says Pruett.
Pruett, a Christian for 43 years, openly shares that she has only experienced praising for 20 of them. The 23 years that she did not understand praise and its benefits serve as the motivation for this well-written book.
Pruett explains in a simplistic manner, "Praise is a magnificent tool! God gets the glory, and you leave His presence with a Kool-Aid smile on your face that no devil in hell can erase."
Pruett's call is, "To share what I've learned about praise to help you develop and enhance your praise to God." She has achieved her goal in more ways than one. First, she walks the reader through The Book of Praise: Psalms. Then, 11 of the 27 chapters have a worksheet entitled "The ABC's of Praise" which encourages readers to use words, phrases or sentences to describe praise from their perspective. Finally, Pruett shares her candid and captivating testimony throughout each chapter allowing readers to ponder, meditate, study, learn and praise.
Readers who take the journey through this wonderful book will undoubtedly experience a new perspective on the power of praising God through it all!
