Except that he's fast, very fast, Funny Cide doesn't look or move like a championship racehorse, and he certainly didn't cost as much. His owners, old high school buddies, are a far cry from the super-rich who are almost a given in the sport. Nevertheless, in 2003, they won two out of three in the Triple Crown of horse racing, losing in the Kentucky Derby, and (much like this year's Smart), Jones) gained the attention and affection of many people who are not ordinarily fans.
