Football: KENNY IS SO CANNY
ANDREW THOMASWYCOMBE manager Tony Adams saluted rival Kenny Jackett's tactics as Swansea held on for three points after taking an early lead.
Andy Robinson's 13th minute goal was enough to knock Wycombe off the top of the table as City coped the better at a rain-swept Causeway Stadium.
Adams was disappointed his side couldn't break down the City defence for an equaliser, but said: "Credit to Swansea. They are strong and resilient and made it very difficult for us. We found it very, very hard to break them down.
"They came with a game plan and it worked perfectly. A lot of teams are doing that at the moment because we are up there to be shot at.
"They changed their system a bit and it took us 15 minutes to sort our midfield out and by that time we were a goal down."
Swansea took the lead after Andy Gurney cracked a 25-yard shot along the greasy surface and Wycombe keeper Frank Talia fumbled - allowing Robinson to slide in and finish from two yards.
Adams added: "The goal was a soft one. We should never have conceded it. Frank has been tremendous so far this season but he has held his hand up for that one.
"I'm still disappointed that none of our lads were following the ball in with their players."
Swansea sat back after the goal but Wycombe could not break their resolute defence.
Substitute Ian Stonebridge had a great chance but his shot crept wide. Gurney then crashed a header against his own bar but that was the closest Wycombe came.
A delighted Jackett said: "It's an excellent result to come to the league leaders and get the win.
"The game suited us. They never really got any tempo up and after our goal it was a little bit stop start.
"As the away team and the side with the lead that definitely helped us.
"We're very competitive and making strides in the right direction. We played a bit differently after a couple of injuries and that shows you that you need everybody to be ready and be part of the cause."
