HE'S RUINED MY SON'S LIFE

THE mother of Child X last night revealed how his life has been torn apart.

Fighting back tears, she said: "He was always the first kid to be in school, never off unless he was sick. Now sometimes he refuses to go.

"He used to be quite outgoing. Now he's sulky and very withdrawn. It's like he's ashamed of himself. He says he feels embarrassed. He started smoking and he's since run away from home overnight four times."

The mother of three sons and one daughter told how she first met Carruthers in 1997. "He would call to ask if he could take one of my sons on outings. He showed me photos which he said were of his wife and children saying they had been killed in an accident. He said we were just like a second family."

She told how it makes her feel sick to the bottom of her stomach when she thinks about what happened.

"That man is not human. I would call him an animal - but that's too good for him."
