Give yourself up, say parents of murder suspect
ANDREW LAWRENCETHE parents of murder suspect Steven Reid last night made an emotional plea for their son to give himself up.
Speaking outside their Edinburgh home, James and Helen Reid pleaded with their son to get in contact.
His mother Helen said: "Please just let us know that you are all right and still OK - this can't go on forever. Please come home."
The Reids said they had not spoken to their son since he last visited their home in September.
Last night Helen, a bank worker admitted: "We don't know if he is alive or dead.
"We are just hoping he has gone abroad."
Reacting to claims in the press about his son's connection with the murder of PhD student Elizabeth Stacey, Steven's father James said: "We will believe it when we hear it."
His mother Helen added: "He's just a normal son, he has never been in trouble in his life and I love him same as any mother does."
