Rural Development Programmes Adopted For Italy And Spain

The European Commission approved a new batch of rural development programmes on 13, 14 and 15 September for various autonomous regions of Spain (with a total EU contribution of Euro 206.95 million) and Italy (EU contribution: Euro 547.321 million) for the period 2000-2006. The European Agriculture Guidance and Guarantee Fund (Guarantee Section) will provide Euro 69.5 million for the measures proposed by the autonomous community of Madrid (total public spending of Euro 139 million); Euro 206.95 million for the autonomous community of Catalonia (total national contribution Euro 400.98 million); Euro 257.695 million for projects in Aragon (out of Euro 471.358 total funding); and Euro 143.8 million for Navarra (total public spending of Euro 285.519 million). The following provinces and regions of Italy will receive funding: Bolzano (EU contribution of Euro 120 million, total cost Euro 266 million); Trento (EU contribution of Euro 90.250 million, total cost Euro 210.200 million); and Lombardy (EU contribution of Euro 337.071 million, total cost Euro 805.435 million).
