On Catching Chikenpox from My Baby Daughter - Health - Poem
Stephen BabbON CATCHING CHICKENPOX FROM MY BABY DAUGHTER While your brother regards My pocked visage With sober concern, You, Little one, Flash me a delighted grin. Is it that you see my affiction As a private joke Shared between us, A complicit conspiracy? Of do you perhaps recognize That this is your handiwork? Daughter Your imprint on my heart Will remain Long after these blemishes Have vanished. When I was diagnosed The doctor said, "Get ready to feel Really miserable For the next week." When you and your brother were born The doctors might have said, "There can be no immunity From the sweet pang of this love. Get redy to feel Completely different For the rest of your lives. Nothing will ever be the same."
