Corning enters into fiber optic joint venture with Vietnamese

Corning Incorporated has exercised an option that will make it owner of 50% of a joint venture company, with Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT), Vietnam's primary telecommunications operator.

Corning International Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary, will carry out the transaction.

The joint-venture company, named Fibre Optic Cable and Accessories Limited (FOCAL), was established in1996, and now employs around 60 workers to manufacture fiber optic cables in its manufacturing plant in Binh Duong Province, near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
