Money floods in to help save starving tigers
AMANDA KELLYTHE Sunday Mirror's investigation into the plight of Indonesia's starving tigers has prompted an avalanche of donations and messages of support from readers.
We revealed last week how the hungry creatures at Ragunan Zoo, outside the capital Jakarta, are being deprived of food because the country's economic crisis means the zoo can no longer afford to feed them. Poverty is so rife that meat meant for the tigers is often stolen by keepers desperate to feed their own families.
Now the Sunday Mirror and Born Free Foundation are working together to help guarantee their survival.
Top British vet John Knight is due to fly out to Indonesia with emergency vitamin supplements.
