Long and short of it
VICTORIA BELLWELL, she is wearing extremely high heels.
But Linda Evangelista makes fashion designer Alber Elbaz look positively pocket-sized as he appears in London for the first time at a party in his honour.
Moroccan-born Elbaz, the creative director of the House of Lanvin who has also worked for Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent, has a host of admirers in London, most of whom appeared to be at the party last night.
Evangelista, 40, was joined by other celebrities including Joan Collins, Jade Jagger, writer Zadie Smith and Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri at Harvey Nichols, where the theme was "the aftermath of a debauched dinner party".
Elbas, whose garments will be shown as part of the Lanvin collection, said: "It has been a wonderful night. I love London. I love the individuality, the spirit, the energy, and place and passion.
"This is the first time I have been here, but I came down here today and first went to Central St Martins art college to look around, and then designed the set for here.
It has been fantastic."
