Macromedia's new Flex 2 series of developer tools enable developers everywhere to build and deploy Rich Internet AppLications (RIAs) on the widely used Flash platform. It's built around four technologies: Flex Framework 2, Flex Charting Components 2, Flex Builder 2, and Flex Enterprise Services 2. Flex Framework 2, as the name suggests, is essentially a frame for building applications. Course designers or others can use prebuilt components or build them specifically for the application. Flex Charting Components 2 allows developers to add data visualization components to any application, white Flex Builder 2 is a coding and debugging environment. Flex Enterprise 2 provides essential data services, automated testing support, and an open adapter architecture to integrate data-intensive RIAs with existing server infrastructures.
