Bright Horizons to buy ChildrenFirst
Bright Horizons is growing larger by 33 backup care centers; they'll acquire ChildrenFirst, giving them more than 600 centers.
The acquisition, at a cost of about $61 million, is the latest in a series for the world's largest childcare provider, which went public in 1997 and purchased Family Solutions in 1998. ChildrenFirst, based in Boston, has more than 270 clients in their back-up care centers in the U.S. and Canada. Bright Horizons centers serve more than 400 clients in the U.S., the UK, Ireland and Canada, and reported revenue of $150.8 million in the first quarter of 2005, up 15% over last year. The combined network of back-up centers will serve clients in more than 70 locations.
