Crossroads Systems Validates iSCSI Interoperability

Crossroads Systems has demonstrated the interoperability of its Internet SCSI (iSCSI) storage networking technology in a neutral test environment staged by the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL).

The test event gave participating vendors a neutral setting in which to confirm their implementations of the iSCSI standard and to ensure device interoperability. The group test event was held in Durham, N.H., Jan. 12-16.

"Crossroads' strong support of open iSCSI standards interoperability has given the company a solid foundation from which to introduce new products," said Bob Griswold, vice president and chief technologist, Crossroads Systems. "In working closely with key partners and customers, Crossroads is positioned to address the emerging iSCSI market in 2004."

The UNH-IOL is an independent proving ground for new technologies, providing leading-edge facilities and support in group tests and technology forums devoted to nearly every facet of networking. The UNH-IOL houses approximately 34,000 square feet of laboratory space with 60 group-testing stations.

"This latest iSCSI test event examined interoperability against a proprietary UNH-IOL reference device and from real data, standards, and vendor-to-vendor perspectives," said Stephen Schaeffer, the UNH-IOL's iSCSI Consortium and test event manager. "Initial interoperability tests were about getting the standards right. Now it's each vendor's implementation and pairing vendor A with vendors B, C, and D."
