Saving Domain Souls - Humor - Brief Article
Lydia LeeWhat do Ralph Nader and Steve Forbes have in common, besides presidential aspirations? Not much, but both can thank a Christian evangelist for saving their domains.
Since 1997, Rob Moritz has registered hundreds of domains for famous folks and returned them, asking only for a donation to his foundation. When Moritz registered his name and that of his ministry, Dramatic Impact in Shawnee, Kan., he also checked a few others out of curiosity. "I was shocked that jerryfalwell.com and woodyallen.com were porn sites," says Moritz, who spends much of his time re-enacting the preachings of Paul the Apostle. He's registered more than 500 domains and returned about 430 of them, including jeffbridges.com, frankieavalon.com and now ralphnader.com.
"We are very appreciative," says Nader's assistant press secretary Stacy Malkan. Moritz handed over Nader's domain in June, and in exchange received an undisclosed donation.
