FORD'S FIESTA!
PHIL WRIGHTSteve Ford ran in five tries to break a record established half a century ago.
The Cardiff winger's tries mean he has now bagged 186 in 217 games.
His scores were part of a 15-try romp as Cardiff dumped village side Dina Powys out of the last 16 of the Swalec Cup.
Ford, 31, was given a standing ovation as he passed the try record set by Cardiff, Wales and British Lions centre Bleddyn Williams.
It was never a serious contest as Dina Powys were outclassed in every department, though they showed great determination.
Full-back Justin Thomas scored the first of his three tries after only 49 seconds as Cardiff took control.
The first half became little more than a practice run for this powerful Cardiff side - and by the interval they had marched to a 61- point lead.
However, Dina Powys showed strength of character after the interval, with outside-half John Jenkins a threat to Cardiff.
And Mike Pally and skipper Stuart Pyman took on the heavier Cardiff pack, while winger Ben Jordan put in some good tackles.
Cardiff, however, were unstoppable. Mike Hall, Jonathan Davies (two), Jason Hewlett (two), Lee Jones and Lee Jarvis all crossed the Dina Powys line. Jarvis also kicked 12 conversions.
Dina Powys, though, did get on the scoreboard eventually, with a penalty try, which Steve Evans converted.
