Thandeka
Stephanie WilliamsNo one is born white in America, writes Thandeka, author of "Learning to be White: Money, Race, and God in America." Thandeka, a minister and teacher at Meadville-Lombard Theological School on Chicago's South Side, describes being white as a process of learning racial identity from those close by. "The Euro-American child," Thandeka notes, "is a racial victim of its own white community of parents, caretakers, and peers... ." She adds, "The first racial victim of the white community is its own child."
